Organizers of the prestigious Volta Music Awards (VMA) has unleashed a press statement to notify it’s cherished audience of the opening of nominations for the 3rd edition of the awards scheme.

A Press statement signed by the PRO for the VMA, Mr Julius kwame indicates that Interested stakeholders are to file their nomination online..Forms are to be filled  filled and submitted online at www.voltamusicawards.com.

VOLTA MUSIC AWARDS OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR SPECIAL 3RD EDITION

Happy New Year to you and yours from Volta Music Awards, organizers of the annual Volta Music Awards Festival.

On behalf of the Board,  we are honoured to inform musicians, music industry practitioners and members of the general public that nominations for the special 3rdedition of the Volta Music Awards are officially open.
The Volta Music Awards, since its inception in 2018 has grown to become the biggest event on the Ghanaian Entertainment Calendar, designed among other things, to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the various players in Volta’s music industry.

Forms are to file online  and submitted online at www.voltamusicawards.com.
Completed forms with copies of music works and promotional images should all be submitted online ..The Deadline for the filing of nomination is  31st December 2019 when all nominations officially close.
Please note that only works released between 1st January 2018 – 31st December 2019..

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER

A. The Awards is open to all recording companies, Artistes, producers, sound engineers, composers and promoters who are linked to Volta region by birth.

I. Only the works that have been released in the past 12 months (1st December,2018 to 30th November, 2019)

II. After the closing date for entries, a process will be implemented to ensure that all entries are placed in the correct or most appropriate categories (in terms of the rules of the Awards Ceremony below).

GENERAL RULES

1. The Board’s decision is final in relation to any award and no correspondence will be entered in relation to the Boards’ decision.

2. The VMAs board accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any problems resulting from incorrect or incomplete entries.

3. The board shall not be required to provide reasons for any decisions in respect of the competition

4. The VMA reserves the right to cancel modify and amend the competition rules at any time if deemed necessary in its opinion and if circumstances beyond their control arise.

5. A copy of the rules and any amendments will at all times be available on the official website

6. By accepting the nominations, to the  Volta music Awards, each nominee is deemed to have accepted these rules and rules contained in the VMA website clause 4 above

7. The board shall have the right to disallow entry forms in the following instances;

I. the nominator provided insufficient information to verify the entry

II. no contact is readily available on the entry form

III. the entry does comprise vulgar words

IV. the entrant is not eligible to enter

V. where there has been any noncompliance with the rules whatsoever

8. The board shall have the right to ;

I. Place any entry into the category it deems appropriate

II.  rule on the eligibility on any entry

III. withdraw any category any year if  VMA determines there is an insufficient number eligible entries in that category and, at the VMA’s discretion

9. By accepting the nomination, the nominee hereby agrees to be bound by the rules and hereby grants EventicGH and  Volta Music Awards the rights to do the following;

I. to use each nominee’s photo, name, images, likeness, biography, interview and recorded performances for marketing, advertising, filming, broadcasting and commercial exploitation for the scheme.

II. to use nominee’s sound recordings in synchronization with the broadcast of the vma on television and in promoting, marketing, advertising, filming and broadcasting the  Volta Music Awards. The nominee warrant that he or she is under no disability, restriction or prohibition from granting the right as aforesaid to EventicGH and indemnifies EventicGH against any claims which may be brought against EventicGH as well as any harm, loss or damage which may suffer as a result of the nominee failing to adhere to this warranty.

10. Each entrant and nominee, waives any claims whatsoever, arising, which they may have against EventicGH, Volta Music Awards and their sponsors.

11. Each entrant and nominee indemnifies the Sponsors, EventicGH, Volta Music Awards, each licenses against any liability and against any claims which may arise directly or indirectly form any breach of these rules. This indemnity shall survive the completion of the awards.

NB: All forms must be properly filled and submitted online with the provided link on the official website. Songs must be uploaded via the form in MP3 or WAV Format and Videos must come with a YouTube link. All Artistes must add a high resolution professional PHOTO.

Opening Date: 30th November 2019

Closing Date:  31st December 2019 (23:59 GMT Just before midnight)

 

CATEGORY DEFINITION AND GUIDELINES

1. Artiste(s) Of the Year

The Artiste of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

2. Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year

The Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Gospel Genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

3. Gospel Song of the Year

It is the Gospel Song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the song with the highest audience appeal which is eligible in the Gospel Genre and the song released in the year under review with most excitement.

4. Reggae/Dancehall Artiste(s) of the Year

The Reggae/Dancehall Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Reggae/Dancehall Genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album in the year under review.

5. Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year

The Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

6. Hiplife Artiste(s) of the Year

The Hiplife Artiste of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the General Public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Hiplife Genre. They must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

7. Hiplife Song of the Year

The Hiplife Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Hiplife song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

8. Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year

The Highlife Artiste of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the General Public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Highlife Genre. They must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

9. Highlife Song of the Year

The Highlife Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Highlife song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

10. Hip-Hop Song of the year

The Hip hop Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular Hip hop song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

11. Most Popular Song of the Year

It is the Song adjudged by the General Public as the song with the highest audience appeal and popularity, it must comprise of an Artiste or a Group and must have released a hit single/ album during the year under review.

12. Best Rapper of the year

The Best Rapper of the Year is the Rap Artiste adjudged by the Board and the General Public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity with word compositions, rhymes and style on a popular released hit single/album during the year under review.

13. Traditional Song of the Year

Is the Song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most popular indigenous music that depicts and promotes tourism in the region recorded or performed live during the year under review.

14. Best Collaboration of the Year

The Best Collaboration of the year is the song adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the song released through the collaboration/featuring of two or more Artistes. The song must have been released and generated the most excitement during the year under review.

15. Best Music Video of the Year

Best Music Video of the Year is adjudged by the Board and General Public as the video produced and promoted during the year under review with much creativity and entertaining by the Director and the Artiste and promotes tourism in the region.

16. Best Group of the Year

It is the Artistes adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the group with the highest audience appeal and popularity, they must comprise of two or more members and must have released a hit single/ album in the year under review.

17. Discovery of the Year

Discovery of the year is adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the most promising and talented emerging artiste (s). The award goes to a relatively new artiste(s) who released a recording that actually FIRST shot the artiste (s) into the public limelight during the year under review.

18. Online Influencer of the Year

Is the individual or organisation adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Online Influencer that has promoted artiste and music on social media and internet in the year under review.

19. Media House of the Year

Is the outstanding Media House adjudged by the Board and the General Public. This award goes to a media house that has engaged and promoted Artistes on their network and have covered entertainment stories under the year of review.

20. Best Performer of the Year

Is the Artiste with the most stage craft, energy, leadership, attitude, control and audience appeal who displayed the needed competence in all aspect as an entertainer under the year of review. It’s adjudged by the Board and the General Public.

21. Producer/Sound Engineer of the Year

Is the Producer/Sound Engineer adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the Artiste directly responsible for the recording, mastering and technical treatment of a nominated song within the region with the highest audience appeal during the year under review.

22. Best DJ/Promoter of the Year

Best DJ/Promoter is the Person adjudged by the Board and the General Public as a person who has promoted Volta music during the year under review.

23. Best Entertainment Company of the Year

Is the company adjudged by the Board and the General Public as the company that has contributed a lot to music and entertainment events in the region in the year under review.

24. Best Entertainment School of the Year

Is the school that has given a lot of attention to Musical event, participation in inter-school musical event and also given platform to artiste and other talents to showcase their strength. It is adjudged by the Board and the General Public during the year under review.

INDUSTRY BASED CATEGORY

25. Song Writer of the Year

The Song Writer of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the Electoral College with 70% and 30% votes respectively as the writer responsible for any song with the most meaningful original lyrics and compositions for any released song during the year under review.

26. Best Male Vocalist of the Year

Is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the Electoral College with 70% and 30% votes respectively as the most outstanding Male Vocalist with delivery on any musical presentation based on recorded or live performances during the year under review.

27.  Best Female Vocalist of the Year

Is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board and the Electoral College with 70% and 30% votes respectively as the most outstanding Female Vocalist with delivery on any musical presentation based on recorded or live performances during the year under review.

NB: APART FROM THE INDUSTRY-BASED CATEGORIES, ALL OTHER CATEGORIES ARE 60% PUBLIC VOTES AND 40% BOARDS’ VOTES.

Citation/Honorary Awards

1. Life-Time Achievement Awards – Is adjudged by the Board and must merit respect and recognition for accomplishments and/or in-depth knowledge in one or more aspects of the industry. And as a living Legend of Ghanaian/Volta Music who has participated actively, influence and impacted in the industry over the years. The Artiste may not have released in the year under review.

2.  Hall of Fame – Inductees or Candidates adjudged by the Board must merit respect and recognition for accomplishments and/or in-depth knowledge in one or more aspects of the industry. Candidate(s) must have participated actively, influence and impacted in the industry over the years.
